LFW Mary Katrantzou

Mary Katrantzou took print on a new level with her new collection. The queen of print this time round played around with symbols, abstracting them from their origins and revamping them.

Inspiration for the creation of the symbols came from uniforms and anything uniformed.

Extracts and patterns were taken from the uniforms to create beautiful prints and embellishments. Each symbol created an impact.

Inspiration also came from the city, the shapes of buildings help add to the symbols created. Meaning was added to the collection as every symbol was representative of real life.

Lines were sleek, often elongated, ground touching. There was pleats animating the fabric and garments were layered to add depth to every outfit.

 But what really took our eye was the embellishment just stunning!

As the finale came around we were in awe of the whole collection.

MENS MENS MENS .......... Colour Pattern and Joy!!

This season mens wear aw14 overwhelmingly blew me away, texture, colour, pattern, layering. I am racing to find fantastic stories to experiment with all this glorious design.

Firstly Dries Von Noten's acid greens, warming pinks and splashes of coloured prints warmed my toes. Interesting silhouettes and bold accessorising with furs and belted coats.

Fitted suits with wonderful prints at Issey Mikaye. Totally wonderful to see the talented clothes architect at work with this new collection. Clashing prints, and something for all styles a real triumph. I particular loved this ensemble.

Issey prints in a cooler palate. 

Patchwork, bright colours and rock and roll printed jeans sung from the catwalk for Raf Simons. Booted, suited and full of autumnal shades.

RICK Owens back to his fabric conscious best, dark, strong, large necklines and hard boots.

And wonderful work from Walter Van Beirendock, one of my favourite shows by far. Extravagant and bold. With a political message. There is no better way to get your opinions heard.
